Papercup-Drawing is a project that draws a story about a cafe in a paper cup at each cafe.
Every cafe has its own pursuit and it is shown to customers in various forms. The artist, who thought that one of them was a paper cup, began to put the cafe into a paper cup with a unique design. The artist not only captures the interior but also draws on the cup the atmosphere and experiences he has seen and felt. Unlike flat paper or canvas, paper cups have a unique and interesting form, which is continuous from side to side. This tells people different stories through the series of pictures shown by turning the cup.
The author believes that the stories he draws while visiting the cafe and spending time certainly contain good storytelling. For this reason, whenever the artist draws a cup, she visits the cafe to complete the cup drawing.
The project, which started in 2017, has been drawing cafes in New York, Portland, San Diego, Chicago, Seoul, Jeju, Busan, and other cities and is still in progress.

<Paper Cup-Drawing>은 카페 속 이야기를 각 커피숍에서 커피와 함께 제공되는 종이컵에 그려내는 프로젝트이다. 카페에서 추구하는 이미지와 방향성 그리고 성격이 종이컵에 잘 드러난다고 생각한 작가는 종이컵에 인쇄되어 나온 로고와 작은 삽화 위에 각 카페가 지닌 느낌과 공간감을 그려낸다. 단순한 인테리어를 그리는데 그치지 않고, 각 카페에서 일어나는 소소한 사건들과 소품들 그리고 그 속에서 카페 속 사람들이 만들어 내는 이야기를 담는 데 중점을 두고 있다. 둥근 종이컵 위로 펼쳐지는 이야기는 스토리가 한눈에 들어오는 평면 캔버스와는 달리 좌우가 연속되어, 보는 이들이 다양한 시각으로 스토리를 읽어 나가게 한다. 컵 드로잉프로젝트는 작가가 직접 카페를 방문하여 시간을 보내며 그려지며, 한순간의 스냅숏이 아닌 짧게는 20분 길게는 40분 동안 이루어지는 카페 속 이야기를 담고 있다. 2017년부터 시작한 이 프로젝트는 이제까지 뉴욕과 서울, 포틀랜드, 제주, 부산 그리고 여러 도시의 카페들을 그려왔으며 현재도 진행 중이다.
